What an Online Booking Page Actually Costs Dental Clinics

"Free online booking" is one of the most common phrases in dental software marketing, and one of the least consistently true. Sometimes it means genuinely free. More often it means free with a plan you're already paying for, free up to a booking volume, or free for the page itself with the actual cost hidden in a per-booking or per-message fee. None of that is dishonest exactly, but it's worth knowing which one you're getting before you build your patient flow around it.

The pricing models you'll run into

  • Bundled into a mid-tier plan - the booking page itself is free, but only once you're on a plan above the entry tier.
  • A small monthly add-on on top of an entry-level plan - a few dollars a month rather than a full tier upgrade.
  • Per-booking or per-message fees - the page is free, but each confirmation message or booking costs something, which adds up fast for a busy clinic.
  • Fully free regardless of plan, usually as a loss-leader to get you into the product, with the real monetization elsewhere (messaging volume, staff seats, etc.).

What to actually ask a vendor

Get specific numbers, not the word "free" on its own: is the booking page itself free on every plan, or only above a certain tier? Is there a cost per booking or per confirmation message? Does the price change if your booking volume grows? And critically - if a patient books online, does that trigger an automated confirmation, and is that confirmation part of the same price or a separate messaging cost?

How ClinicDesks prices it

To be specific rather than just say "affordable": ClinicDesks's Basic plan is $5/month and doesn't include online booking by default - it's a small add-on (a couple of dollars more per month) if you want it on Basic. The Plus plan, $15/month, includes online booking at no extra cost, along with automated WhatsApp reminders. The Practice plan, $30/month, includes the same and supports up to five dentist logins. There's no per-booking fee on any plan - once booking is enabled, patients can book as often as they want.

The real question isn't the price tag

A booking page that costs a few dollars more a month but actually gets used by patients is worth more than a free one buried three clicks deep in a website nobody visits. Before comparing prices, check how the link actually gets shared - a shareable per-clinic link that works on its own (not just embedded in a site you'd have to build separately) is usually the difference between a booking page patients use and one that sits unused.
